You can move a server to any other location that offers its plan, for example from Warsaw to New York. A move costs €2.50 once, including the VAT of your country. Open the server, go to Settings, and click Move… next to Location. Choose where the server should go and what happens to its data:
  • Move with its data copies the server’s disk to the new location. Files, applications and settings come along. The server is off while the disk is copied, usually 15 to 60 minutes, and starts again in the new location.
  • Fresh server replaces the server with a new installation of the operating system you choose. Everything on the current disk is erased. The new server keeps the expiry date and name, and is ready within a few minutes.
Either way the server gets a new IP address in the new location. Its old address and reverse DNS are released, so update anything that points at the old address, such as DNS records or firewall allowlists. An IPv6 address moves along when the new location offers IPv6. A Linux server that is moved with its data boots with new SSH host keys, and root gets the password shown on the server’s Overview again.
Locations that are sold out cannot be chosen. If a move cannot be completed, the €2.50 is credited back to your balance.
